Happy Belated Canada Day

Happy belated Canada day everyone! We had big plans for our Canada day but unfortunately they didn’t really work out. Our community does a Canada day party in the park with a petting zoo, face painting, bouncy kingdom, BBQ, fireworks etc. Since it said it was a BBQ, I thought that it was around dinner time. So we decided to leave the house at 3:00 to go take part in the festivities and then we thought we’d come back home for a while to let Clay sleep before the fireworks. When we got down to the park at 3:00 everything was already over 😦 So we just ended up playing with Clay at the playground and going home and doing our own BBQ. Then we put Clay to bed and made smores in the backyard until it was time for the fireworks.

This is pretty cute, it’s Clay’s concentrating face. Whenever he’s thinking about something he sticks his tongue out.

Brett arrived home from up north around 9:00pm while Clay was sleeping. Luckily for us the sun doesn’t set until about 10:30 and the fireworks weren’t starting until 11:00pm so Brett was home in plenty of time for smores and fireworks. We decided we would try to wake Clay up after putting him to bed at his regular bedtime, for the fireworks. He was pretty confused about being woken up in the middle of the night. But he watched all the fireworks and then actually went back to bed pretty easily.

I don’t have any pictures of the fireworks because Clay wanted to sit on my lap through them.

Here’s a cute little video that Julia took while we were evacuated during the floods and staying at a friends house. It’s just of Clay saying “hi” with his cute little wave. Hi is his only word aside from Mama or Dada. He says it all the time, over and over and over again but it’s pretty adorable 🙂

  1. I am so happy to see this posting. Visual proof that you are happily back in your own, undamaged home. May the Elbow always keep out of your basement 🙂
